The response published on August 25, 2023, clearly stated that CEO Pavel Durov has nothing to hide and frequently travels openly throughout Europe.

The messaging app shared this response via its Telegram News channel, reiterating its support for Durov, and hoping for an expedient resolution.

Charges are unclear and confusion remains 

At this point, the exact charges levied against Durov are unclear. Some reports have indicated that his detention was related to moderation issues surrounding content on the Telegram platform. 

At this time, however, there has been no official statement from the French government or any clarification from Telegram regarding Durov’s current status, which is all speculation.

Awaiting Official Statement 

Currently, French authorities have not responded to the Russian embassy regarding its status. 

An official response has been promised to coordinate the response from Paris, and an announcement is expected on August 26.
