ecentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks, or DePin, continue to build momentum as several projects in the space have been forming partnerships and announcing future plans. Three of those updates come to us from io. net, MapMetrics and Fluence, indicating progress in decentralized infrastructure and blockchain integration.

io.net Partners with Zerebro

io.net has signed a strategic alliance with Zerebro, an autonomous AI agent, on December 17, 2024. The company intends to take Ethereum Validators one step further by using Distributed GPU Compute resources at io.net.

According to Tausif Ahmed, Chief Business Development Officer of io.net, this will be an important milestone towards the path of integrating AI into blockchain.

This enables Zerebro to tap into a permissionless, globally distributed compute network that is so critical for operational continuity and the drive to innovate.

This collaboration comes in good graces with previous integrations, including one launched in September with TARS Protocol to shave 30% off AI model training costs and another two months later with Zero1 Labs that moved to advance decentralized artificial intelligence construction. These examples prove that io. is indeed of strategic consequence for commitments to furtherance in the DePin space through ingenious partnerships.

MapMetrics Unveils Roadmap for Token Listing

MapMetrics, the company behind the "drive-to-earn" navigation app, has just unveiled an ambitious roadmap for token listing. This is in the wake of the successful integration of UATS into Peaq's DePin "Peaqosystem" last August 2024.

The integration is in relation to and bears relevance to the project called MapMetrics, setting into gear what many have been highly anticipating: a community token launch. It also pointed out that it was nominated as one of the first projects to release its token within the Peaq ecosystem.

However, the most important highlights of the roadmap are major updates related to improving features of navigation, which the company has focused on rather than GameFi features as a way to ensure long-term growth. This approach aims at setting up MapMetrics for a strong post-launch path.

Cloudless VMs at Fluence have early adopters

This month, Fluence also announced RapidNode and Supernoderz by Spheron as one of its early adopters in the DePin Cloudless VM Alpha Testing Program. The announcement on December 19 marked a key milestone for Fluence in cloud infrastructure.

Fluence Welcomes Early Adopters for VMs

Today, about 90% of all blockchain protocol nodes and validators are operated on centralized cloud services, according to Tom Trowbridge, Fluence co-founder. With the launch of no-cloud virtual machines, Fluence said it would hence be offering an alternative that cuts as much as 75% off the cost of mainstream cloud computing.

No specific technical details on the cloudy-less VMs have been commented on by the company in question, but reportedly, it is capable of decentralizing infrastructure for Web3 apps.
