Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has in recent times asked the Bitcoin and the XRP communities to desist from drawing swords against each other. His position comes in an era that tensions have been mounting in the cryptocurrency world following the recent events. In referring to a recent event known as XRP Las Vegas, Garlinghouse said that success for either of the two cryptocurrencies would never be at the other’s expense.

Ripple and Bitcoin are not Enemies
Garlinghouse also added, “The world of Bitcoin is not our enemy. They really are not. If they do well, we’re gonna do well.” This is in accordance with a developing trend of coexistence and not competition between cryptocurrencies. The competition has served to encourage dissension and factions between the two camps.
Garlinghouse’s comments were further necessitated by recent strains after she cancelled a meeting with Senator Cynthia Lummis. Lummis, who is a vocal Bitcoin fan, was accused of seemingly sidelining Ripple after she cancelled the meeting. Garlinghouse challenged her to defend all cryptocurrencies, and not just Bitcoin.

The Recent Crypto Climate
Current happenings ignited a storm of anger among Bitcoin and XRP followers. Garlinghouse ignited anger when Ripple donated the controversial “Skull of Satoshi” artwork to a museum in the guise of a gift in exchange for a donation of Bitcoin. Most of the Bitcoin faithful took this as a personal insult at the act of Bitcoin mining operations.
Secondly, Ripple’s opposition to a suggested American reserve made up only of Bitcoin has also fueled the flames. This has generated increased criticism and suspicion between the two.
Moving Towards Cooperation
Even with already existing competition, Garlinghouse thinks that the entire business of cryptocurrency has to be all about collaboration. Cooperation, as he said, has been driving the market and synchronizing its operations. “It’s not a zero-sum game,” he explained, thinking that there is room for XRP and Bitcoin to coexist.
With fresh regulation looming, Garlinghouse’s call for harmony can be seen as being well-placed. As the cryptocurrency environment continues to change, harmony might be the way that the sector continues to ride out turbulence and promote the interests of everyone involved in cryptocurrency.
As usual, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse holds the belief that there must be cooperation between the Bitcoin universe and XRP. His call to cooperate can have the potential to show us all how cooperation can yield its fruits in today’s fast world of cryptocurrency. Nearly going to war, the appeal for cooperation can be the way towards a higher and richer future for all cryptocurrencies.
