Maple syrup is delicious, but wait until you see the yield that Maple Finance has to offer.

Get ready for a mouth-watering DeFi experience as we take you through the ins and outs of the Maple Finance protocol and the $SYRUP token, which has surged almost 100% in the last year.

What is Maple Finance?

Maple Finance is an on-chain asset management platform built on Ethereum, which first launched in 2021 and facilitates institutional lending and borrowing within DeFi. The mission is to be the decentralized corporate lending hub for crypto hedge funds, market makers and DAOs across the entirety of Web3.

Finance is moving on-chain, and Maple provides secure, transparent, expert-led financial products for not only institutions but also individuals. What makes Maple so desirable is its ability for under-collateralized or uncollateralized loans, which is extremely rare to find in DeFi protocols.

How Does Maple Finance Work?

Loans on Maple are provided without requiring the full collateral that DeFi protocols typically require (e.g. Aave or Compound), and this is thanks to the reputation of borrowers on Maple Finance. In short, Maple is the syrup sticking the Lenders who want to earn yield, Borrowers who need extra capital, and Pool Delegates who manage lending pools.

As it stands, Maple Finance has an estimated $2.49B in AUM (Assets Under Management), with over 400 loans issued, and over 100 institutional borrowers equating to over $7.71 billion borrowed. Trusted by Circle ($USDC), Coinbase, Sky and others, it is clear to say, Maple is making its mark in the future of finance.

$syrupUSDC Explained

Curating succulent yield opportunities for everyone worldwide, Maple has open access to $syrupUSDC, a Liquid Yielding Stablecoin with institutional quality yield of up to 6.4% APY, that has no minimums, and is open to everyone apart from the US.

$syrupUSDC is currently available on Ethereum, Base and Solana, ready to generate yield.

Maple Finance Institutional Yield

On the other hand, we have yield opportunities ranging from 4% to 9.8% APY on cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and many blue-chip altcoins with Permissioned Access that is open strictly to institutions that complete a KYC and have a minimum of $100K.

$SYRUP Token

$SYRUP, making the Maple ecosystem as sweet as it is, is the native utility token primarily used to stake, earn rewards and share protocol revenue. It is also used to participate in the governance, lend/borrow and can also be used as a ‘Pool Cover’ to gain potential protection against lending pool losses.

Conclusion

At the time of writing, $SYRUP is trading at $0.5997 with a market cap of $667.8M. The $SYRUP token recently broke its ATH of $0.65 on the 25th of June 2025, and seems to be en route to breaking it once again. As traditional finance moves on-chain, Maple becomes more of a desired protocol to institutions across the globe, but the question is, will it become globally adopted?
